New Town Planning around Baiqi Lake – Quanzhou / China

In the Chinese city of Quanzhou, the area around Baiqi Lake in the east of the city is being developed. The plan envisages an extension of the coastline inland to connect the Luoyang River bank with the ecological corridor of the Baiqi River. A central location is the confluence of the two rivers into Baiqi Lake, which functions as an urban connecting element between the districts. A government district and a tourism and wellness area are planned on the northern shore of the lake. A central business district is planned on the southern shore of the lake. A green, ecological, and pedestrian-friendly axis, as well as a transport axis, will connect these areas and create recreational qualities along the waterfront.
