Project

  • Project Name: Stuttgart Mühlhausen
  • Client: City of Stuttgart
  • Typology: District Development

The district of Mühlhausen is located on the northern boundary of the state capital Stuttgart. Its original appearance as a village between the Neckar River and the vineyards is still clearly recognizable today. However, several developments in the 20th century led to significant transformations of the townscape, particularly the transport infrastructure that bisects the area and separates it from the Neckar, as well as the commercial clusters along the riverbanks. Against this background, an urban and open space structural plan was developed for Mühlhausen. It is intended to clarify how to manage both the developments that have already taken place and those that are now pending. The public was involved in the development of the structural plan through a participatory process.
