The lighting design in Esslingen transforms the city into a nighttime fairytale city – from its fountains to its skyline. It highlights the natural setting, historical heritage, and cityscape at night. A comprehensive lighting concept was developed using design leitmotifs. The illuminated areas include the city view, important inner-city areas, individual city entrances, key street and square types, beautiful facades, Neckar canals and bridges, as well as parks. The various city entrances and squares are treated individually, while simultaneously allowing the public space of Esslingen’s city center to be experienced as a whole.
